We all follow the news of our industry, so it should be a fairly well-known fact that cremation rates have been steadily rising for years. The September report from the National Funeral Directors Association shows a projected rise in cremation rates to 82.3% by 2045. This is significant. The report goes on to say that cremation will “outpace burials by more than six to one by 2045.” Are you prepared?

The demand for cremation is on the upswing, we see it all over the place, for instance, in the growing county of Lincoln in North Carolina, currently cremations are done out of county. One woman stepped up and petitioned the county board of directors to expand the parameters of what defines a funeral home so that crematories can be added. As Ashley Workman Stoffa stated, “This new amendment will help keep cremations in the county and also open the door for new businesses in the area.” You can click through for the full story.
